Jennifer Arenas and Calle Cardona invite us to embrace life with their new single “Cuando”, an urban song that comes with a very emotive videoclip recorded in New York with a Latin feeling and especially Colombian love.

“Cuando” is a song with which many latinos, especially migrants, can identify due to its motivating, sincere and fresh lyrics that actually empathize with every human being.

Calle, who has been in the music business for several years, and Jennifer, a Colombian well-known TV actress, put their voices, talent, and creativity together in this piece, which represents one more for Cardona and the first public tune for Arenas, who confirmed she´s already working on mew music.

Calle Cardona was the first Colombian to get signed for an urban record in the United States. Jennifer, on the other hand, had already made use of her voice for other projects, such as “Sueños Cumplidos”, for the TV production “Lady la vendedora de rosas”, and several theater productions. Jennifer says she´s very happy with her participation in this song, on which she´s also co-author.

Both performers met in New York thanks to the artist and also producer Kiño, with whom Jennifer had already worked. This is so far their only work together. The song was produced during the pandemic. “The recording studio was open”, Calle commented. He expressed that the song is the result of their friendship, fellowship, and Latin roots. As to the music video, Daniel Arango, Jennifer´s husband, was in charge of the directing.

They explain that, when composing the melody, they purposed “more than representing a genre or popularizing it, we want people to ask themselves, just like the chorus says ´cuando´ (when)” Arenas manifests that she identifies significantly with the lines “Just like you, I have silence wanting to talk. Just like you, I have fears to lose”, because it shows part of her own experience, since this is a new phase on her artistic career. “The world sees the results, but not the fears, the lack of sleep, and efforts”, she continued.

Cardona shared in the interview that they thought about life at the moment of writing and its lyrics are directed to the entire humankind, to every color and age, although being latino in USA influences the production. Jennifer added: “When you´re Latino in the United States, you´re not from a specific nation anymore, you´re just Latino, and with that comes the dark side, such as racism, or being on the spotlight in a negative way, but at the end we´re the same. We´ll all die”. The artists reported they feel satisfied with the results. “It went on the right direction”.

Upon being asked about live shows, they said they´re waiting for the pandemic to wane a little more to go on stage, but they have already several proposals.

When speaking about some other miscellaneous details such as leisure and entertainment, Jennifer shared how much she enjoys analyzing music videos of different genres, while Calle considers himself a “workaholic”. However, he uses every possible moment to be with his family and watch series or a movie.

Both are enjoying their staying in Bogota and savoring the cuisine from their homeland. Though they can also have it abroad, for them there´s nothing like having it in Colombia.

“Cuando” is already available in all music platforms and it´s video can be seen on Youtube, where it can be enjoyed and analyzed just like Jennifer does. I´m leaving it here below, too.
