Come, Let Me Introduce You to Black Lyon

Get ready because they´re ready for you

From USA, but with latino and Asian hearts, it comes a new musical experience with a fresh and relaxing sound that combines several genres. Ballad, pop, and even regaetton. “Always Ready for You” is the most recent piece from Black Lyon, the duo formed by Venezuelan Alex Mor and the Turkish Ece Muniroglu.

This new song feels romantic –and it is depending on what the listener considers romantic – but it follows the same inspirational line that characterizes the duo: embrace sadness and darkness, deeming them as something not necessarily negative but important for personal growth.

The tune, according to Alex and Ece, “inspires the listener to enjoy their own company, while they wait to share that feeling with someone else.” It´s a good topic for these moments (the song was produced during the everlasting quarantine).

“Always Ready for You” comes with a music video that works impeccable a palette of bright and juvenile but sober colors (no, it´s not a carnival) which captures the attention of a kid, youth o adult quickly. In the video, we can see loneliness but not gloom, thus showing in images that sentiment expressed in the lyrics. On the other hand, the way they play with the colors seems to be a mark in their videos.

This song is the second one they produce with music production company Deft Dog, being the first its predecessor “Now is Forever”, a melody I will use just a word to describe: beautiful. I mention this last one because, upon checking Black Lyon´s music catalog, I discovered a diversity of sounds compatible with different personalities and, therefore, I recommend them with no hesitation. 

 

These artists find their inspiration in other artists such as Lana del Rey and Lorde. In the songs “Now Is Forever” and “This Way”, we can notice it from beginning to end (I just mentioned the name of another Black Lyon´s tune. It was a slip of the tongue; anyways, I recommend it, too.)

The duo has also an avatar: a black lion present in all of their videos, somehow like Eddie for Iron Maiden. This character performs a particular action in every video, but I’ll not mention it. You must watch them to know what I´m talking about.

Alex and Ece, who´ve known each other since university, add a little touch of their backgrounds to their music but the lyrics are in English mostly – though they´re already working on more projects in Spanish.  

Black Lyon (pronounced Black Lee-own), in case you feel curious about the origin of the name, is a peculiar combination between the word “black”, and the name of the French city “Lyon”, famous for its Festival of Lights. This is how it came to life very creatively this term after others like Black & White, light and darkness, or Yin and yang.
